About the Bank of Canada rates

When does the Bank of Canada publish its exchange rates?

Every Canadian business day by 16:30 ET. currencyapi imports every publication within the hour after it appears.

Which rate is this?

These are the daily average exchange rates of the Bank of Canada, against the CAD. Each value is shown both as the price of one unit of the currency in CAD and as the amount of the currency one CAD buys.

What happens on weekends and holidays?

The bank publishes nothing on those days. Rules that refer to a day without a publication usually mean the last rate published before it, which is what the API returns for such a date.

How far back does the history go?

The stored history starts on 22 September 2026 and covers every publication since.
